Books to read

In an earlier post I showed the classic energy-efficient home design books from my library. Now it’s time for the modern books.

For Australia, the best is the Your Home book published by the Australian Government. All the content is also available on their website – unbiased, clear and straightforward.

The Christopher Day book (The Eco-Home Design Guide) is surprisingly good – surprisingly, because a lot of this type of book are quite lightweight in content. But this is a good one.

The other books are, to varying degrees, aimed at architects or building designers but they are all good books for people who are just interested in the topic.

If you’re building or buying a home, spending a few hundred dollars on some reading material could save you literally hundreds of thousands of dollars… and give you a much more comfortable home to boot.
